Eternity in a moment.
She rose high with the wind; gliding weightlessly on its shoulders. She sailed across the sky tearing through the blanket of silence. She could go anywhere, explore the uncharted, touch the
untouched. She could achieve infinity.
But she wasn’t the master of her own will. Someone else was pulling the strings. Quite literally. She tried to go higher but with a pull of the string, her efforts were subdued. Her infinity became finite.
She fought and struggled. All in
vain. Across the horizon, she could see another one like herself. A reflection.
Another kite.
But this was no ordinary kite.
She was no longer steered by someone else. She was free and she was effortless.
She swam across the ocean of sky and dwindled in the distance as she finally
perched herself upon a tree. After spanning the lengths of the sky, she had
found herself a resting place. She had found peace.
Witnessing this salvation relaxed
her. She fought no more. She let herself be driven. The wild animal was tamed.
But in the depths of her heart, she was waiting. Waiting for her limited
moments of freedom, and the streets she would glide over in those moments,
would eventually become her whole world. She wished to witness eternity pass
her by in those final seconds.
She waited for salvation; and
longed to find her own tree.
