We are rebels

Let's rebel,
You and I.
It is in our nature to rebel.
For nature leads the greatest rebellions.

Our world was a woeful white,
Haunted with an absence of hues.
White is the most silent of colours,
And the most deafening of them.
Earth had no choice, but to rebel.
With one firm push,
It tilted its axis, and shrugged winter off.

On came spring,
Flooding Earth in a torrent of colour.
With summer, rivers woke up,
And danced their way to the seas.
Rains made love to the land,
And the soil bloomed with ecstasy.

When the sun burned with too much desire,
Fall arrived, and with it came a death so beautiful,
Life was filled with envy.
The dark mistress flirted with the trees,
And the leaves watched in silence.
A kiss of death made them blush,
And the colour of blood took over.

Until at last, winter returned,
And the sky took the colour of melancholy.
Clouds mourned and cried,
But tears became weightless,
And fell down as snow.
Days grew restless, and nights patient.
Colours ceased to exist.
Ice, the daughter of winter,
Wrapped itself around life.
Trees fell silent.
Only winds howled.
Mountains looked down in despair,
As rivers froze in their paths.
It seemed winter had won again.

But the greatest rebellions,
Are born out of hopelessness.
Permanence is an illusion,
And the truth of life is transience.

Winter loomed at large,
Until one defiant soldier of spring,
Roused himself from his long slumber.
Heedless to the ocean of white around him,
He rebelled in green.

So let's rebel,
You and I.
For it is in our nature to rebel.
